
Vahan Eye
VahanEye is a real-time ANPR solution built on an indigenously developed tech stack, combining video analytics, license plate detection, and OCR. Designed to run on cost-effective edge hardware with IP cameras, it ensures efficient and accurate vehicle identification. Integrated with the Vahan database and a custom dashboard, it enables seamless validation and real-time monitoring.
Why Needed
Checkposts often face challenges in monitoring vehicle movement, ensuring compliance, and curbing illegal transport. Manual record-keeping is inefficient and prone to manipulation. An Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system was needed to automate vehicle logging, improve enforcement accuracy, and create a transparent digital trail for authorities.

Technological Innovation
The pilot is a real-time ANPR system using an indigenously developed technology stack: Frigate NVR for video analytics, YOLOv11-based License Plate Detection (LPD), and PaddleOCR for character recognition. The solution runs on low-cost edge hardware (Mini-PC with Coral USB) paired with CPPLUS IP cameras. Integration with Vahan (vehicle registration database) and a custom web/mobile dashboard added value by enabling real-time validation and monitoring.
Application Sector
The system directly applies to mining operations, toll plazas, transport enforcement, and logistics hubs. It provides a scalable model for government transport departments, mining authorities, and security agencies to monitor vehicular movement with minimal human intervention.

By digitizing and automating vehicle monitoring at checkposts, the system reduces revenue leakage from illegal mining transport, improves compliance with permits, and ensures fairer taxation.
